Actually, he knew exactly what he had been thinking when he dropped the Irish accent: that it was impossible to get anyone to take him seriously -- as a vampire or a person -- while sounding like a leprechaun. Plus, back when he had the accent, everybody kept thinking it was fake. Angelus had found that very annoying. "Yeah, same note. I'll be up front with Buffy, I promise. I'll tell her everything I know. I just think... showing her the actual letter might hurt more than it helps." He was purposely vague about who it would hurt. "I don't know, maybe I'm overreacting to this. Maybe you were right, Spike was just trying to manipulate me. I mean, Riley may be an idiot to hook up with him, but the guy's got a pretty strict moral code. He doesn't need the army for that. Maybe he'll be able to keep Spike in line.
