Elena cut herself short, figuring that maybe Beth's sleep-deprived temper outburst wasn't the best dinner party conversation. "I thought perhaps you were Spike, although the fact that you and Beth are not at each other's throats should have proved me wrong." One of the advantages to being quiet -- or at least being perceived as quiet by most people -- was that it became very easy to pick up on all the gossip and rumors. Plus, Beth was not exactly the quiet type herself. Elena had heard about Beth's relationship with Spike, if one could even call it a relationship, as well as her friendships with Angel and Davan.
