Buffy heaved a sigh, shaking her head, "I think 'idiot' is exactly right." She couldn't believe that after everything she and Spike had gone through the past couple years he could even dream of thinking that. It was true that she tended to favor Angel more, but that was just ingrained her like DNA. It had nothing to do with who she wanted to let die to save the world--and she would obviously choose neither. And hell, she had no idea that amulet would burn him to a crisp. It didn't exactly come with instructions. "I will," she said, not wanting someone she cared about thinking she thought that lowly of him. Spike would always be Spike, but she was one of the few people who had seen the good things of which he was capable.
As they headed out the door, she felt Angel's light touch on her arm, which sent shivers through her. Touching digits of any kind with Angel tended to make her heart race and her body ache with....well, wishes to do things she knew she couldn't. She smiled slightly at his words, forcing the other thoughts to the back her mind "Thanks, Angel. I'm going to really try not to be so avoidy with them." She headed in the direction of the coffee shop she knew was around the corner, "So, what's new with you, Angel? I mean, I haven't exactly seen you around much either--not that I would have noticed with my own hiding out."
