Who: Rupert Giles and Ethan Rayne What: After this daring rescue When: Third week Where: Rooftop and inside the Pod building
Giles pinched the bridge of his nose as the intercom shut itself back off. He hadn't even known the bloody thing was there, and he was certainly going to have it removed at the first opportune moment.
He was also curious, to a fault he supposed, because while he knew Riley had arrived--rumor had it he'd been skulking about the security rooms, watching the cameras and things of that nature--the boy hadn't shown his face anywhere else. Now, though? He was on the roof of the bloody building with a surprise for him?
Oh, he definitely didn't like the sound of that; surprises never boded well for him in the past, but then, they'd been living on a Hellmouth then. Perhaps Finn had brought some new kind of equipment, or had gone to pick up a nice load of books. Marking his place, he closed the book he'd been reading, made one last note on the page, and took the elevator up to the roof access floor. There was a flight of stairs that he quickly climbed up, and used one of the many keys on his new ring to unlock the roof access door.
Sunlight blinded him for a moment, and Riley stepped forward, blocking it just as Giles raised his arm to shade his eyes. "What is going on here?" Giles demanded.
Riley just laughed. "It would take too long to explain, sir," he answered, throwing off a salute and leaving.
Bewildered, he called down after Riley. "So what's the surprise then?" As soon as he asked it, though, movement on the roof caught his attention and he turned it back to the helicopter.
