Who: Andrew and OPEN
When: Late Friday night.
Where: One of the public, living areas in the POD.
What: Andrew reads a comic, then can't sleep.
Andrew was now convinced that he would never, ever, ever again buy a comic to read without properly looking to see what it was. Just because it had the word 'Marvel' on it didn't mean that it was a cool superhero romp. This he had learned the hard way after picking up the two issues of Marvel: Ruins at the nearby comic book store. The art had looked kind of cool and briefly skimming the plot outline made it look interesting.
He hadn't been able to take a proper look at it until he was about to head to bed for the night, the room dark safe for the pale reading light.
It was immediately on the first few pages that his heart started beating a little faster, but he couldn't put it down, it was compelling, awful and horrible. He had faced some terrifying things in real life, so things like this shouldn't affect him really. But there was just something so horrible about seeing these graphic depictions of his beloved superheroes like this. He couldn't put it down, not until he had finished the whole thing.
He breathed a little easier when it was done and he told himself that it wasn't real, this had just been some silly alternate universe.
He should have known that sleeping would be a hopeless case, as soon as he turned the lights off the images burned in his mind. And the descriptions... oh god.
His eyes flew open and he sat up, shivering. He winced as his feet hit the cold floor, quick to find his fluffy socks and a robe to put over the thing pajamas. The building after dark was terrifying, and for a moment he considered seeing if somebody was awake. He decided against it though and padded down to one of the sitting areas instead, somewhere with a TV, that would play something not scary.
He found a blanket and 'The little mermaid' then sat back in one of the couches, curled up and still shivering as the film started.
this is the comic he read
