Ed was expecting a blow from the man's fist, not for the energy that blasted out and away from him, so he hadn't been prepared for it and was easily thrown, landing on his back a few feet away. His dagger was left behind, stuck in what should have been an almost certainly fatal blow in Loki's chest if he'd been only a man, but he wasn't, and the knife had been Ed's only weapon. He would have bragged about his precision in getting it lodged between the other man's ribs without sticking in the bone, if he weren't so worried.
He ignored Loki's question, mostly because the answer was probably obvious by now, but also because he didn't want to give him any more information than necessary, he didn't know what this demon might be capable of if he knew too much.
"What is it you want?" Ed asked in desperation, maybe striking a deal could get him out of this with his life. He didn't have much to offer at hand but he was getting better at finding things around the islands and he and Stede had built up a small stockpile in this house and ship. "What would it take to let me be free of you?"
