Who: Everyone who got one of these invitations! Where:Capper Manor When: 5pm-11pm, Friday, August 26 What: Sariah's sixteenth birthday party! And possibly death by social anxiety Notes: IC/OOC thread! Split off separate threads, do threads here, just dash off a quick note that you were there, whatever! :D
Most of the Manor was open for people to circulate and mingle -- much of the party was confined to one big ballroom-type area, but the only locked doors were places you wouldn't want random people in and out of -- bedrooms, offices, etc. There was a table set off to the side for gifts if people brought them -- they know that most of these people are just coming because it's a Function and not actually because of the birthday, but they weren't going to tell her friends NO GIFTS either. Other than that, there was plenty of food in the form of small finger things circulating via elf, and drinks both alcoholic and not for the underage among us. Yes, there was also cake, but that whole ceremony was relatively quick and happened pretty early on. This is equal parts "Society function" and "put our marriageable daughter on display."
The dress code was pretty relaxed, but Sariah ordered Slytherin sixth years and Dougalcaps to go all out in advance, to prove some kind of point to her mother. Other than that, she was very polite to everyone who approached her and did her best to carry herself with the utmost grace and propriety, even if it was obvious she's somewhat shy.
A couple hours into the party (once she'd been sufficiently seen), she gathered up her close friends and a shitload of champagne and they all ran out to the stables, which Sariah had set out in advance with blankets and a few lights for when it got dark. They were sharing space with two horses (one winged, one not) but they were pretty docile once Sariah said hi to them, so they were able to talk and play games and whatever. Mosiah came back to grab her for a few minutes every so often to let her be seen more and so her parents didn't get too suspicious (though a few people are free to have seen her making a break for it). At a little after 11:30, any stragglers were gently urged to leave.
