Dean had not expected their time together to take a turn for the worse. It was supposed to be a time to catch up, have fun, and get out of the house. However, that didn't seem to be the case after a while. He knew that Demelza could be very straightforward, which is how her continuing actions showed themselves to be, especially leading up to the kiss. As much as it was a good sign of affection, it wasn't completely wanted on his side. He enjoyed it, just like any guy his age truly would. The gesture just didn't mean as much to him as it once did a couple of weeks ago. His mind had been full of thoughts of Ginny Weasley, whom would probably never take notice of him in such a way again, and failing to realize how much Lisa Turpin had been consuming his thoughts.
Once his words had explained himself as best as he could, Dean hadn't stopped the blonde from pounding a closed fist against his chest. It was an action that he could handle no less, as long as she kept away from seeking revenge on something further down his body. However, he hadn't expected her to sink against him, which he promptly placed a hand upon her back, allowing her to get out the excess feelings out. Dean wasn't about to tell Demelza that he knew how she felt because the situation never came forth against his favor. "You have nothing to say sorry for," he replied honestly, especially since he did a crap job of explaining it all. However, Dean had been brought to a pause once again with her question. It was one that he didn't want to answer truthfully. Not with the outburst she had within a matter of moments. It didn't help that he wanted to suggest taking her home in replace of any sort of answer. "Do you know how some people grow apart, and most of the time it happens without one of them knowing? And especially when you don't want it to happen either?" Hopefully, that approach would ease the situation. He honestly wanted to remain on good terms with Demelza.
