Alexander merely sighed inwardly at Daphne's attempt in over exaggeration. She knew how to play her cards in situations that were purely built on revenge. It was the way that siblings reacted to all sort of things that ran across them in their lives. They were no different then the rest of them. Well, for the most part. He didn't know how other siblings arguments escalated towards, since they always seemed relatively normal with his presence around. Not the complete same way that the two Greengrass' presented themselves, but similar. "Of course, I offered her tea," he replied a bit offended. Even in his attempt to obtain exactly what he wanted, Alexander knew his manners. With her successful attempt to make the situation awkward, she should know better than that just like how she knew how he took his tea.
"Oh, do not act as though you are offended, Daphne. I did not mean it that way in the slightest. I was just suggesting that you show your manners with a guest present and knock upon the door before entering. If our parents were entertaining company, they would expect the same gesture to announce your presence," he explained, seeing right through that particular act and expecting the same respect in return. Honestly, enough was enough with Daphne. Slowly, yet surely, he was understanding what she was trying to accomplish that very moment. It would take a lot more then interrupting the start if what could potentially could be. In the middle of that something, then that was crossing the line.
If the situation was a different one all together, Alexander might have enjoyed his sister's kindness in Contessa. He liked that she was respectful towards her, but it was out of spite at the moment for the most part. At least, that's what it came off as to him. "It was merely another suggestion, especially since it would seem as though Astoria would be quite done with most of the novels that she owns," he replied and leaned his elbows onto his thighs. And that was one thing that Daphne and him could agree with. Romance novels did give a false sense of what love was as a whole, but he allowed her to have such writings without any words that spoke otherwise. Alexander much rather both of sisters simply read about romance stories then being in a relationship with a boy that would never meet up to standards of the Greengrass name. "Agreed."
Alexander glanced over at Contessa, pulling his gaze away from Daphne all together since the first sight of her in the room. The moment had been ruined, and he doubted that it could be salvaged in anyway now. "There is no reason to leave without your tea. Then, I will make sure that you arrive home in one piece," he answered, mentally yelling unkind words in the direction of his sister. After all, it was the gentlemanly thing to do, especially since she was not fully recovered with her bout of more liquor than she could handle that evening.
However, he was sure when he made it back to the Estate another argument would surely come out of it with the middle Greengrass sibling.
