Walden sighed as he leaned against the cold brick of a building and listened to the happy chatter and nonsense from the people inside. They were happy but more importantly, they were warm. Walden was not too pleased that he had to keep waiting for his intended mark to leave. Then again, it wasn't like anyone had taken notice of him standing there. He was very good at hiding at the shadows and it didn't help that most patrons had already had several drinks. Being invisible was easy when your job always required it. Even when he was an executioner he had to be invisible because people tended to want to forget the unpleasant things in life. It was his job to remind them of that.
Reaching into his pocket, Walden pulled out the tiny chess piece he had stashed there, a bishop. What had started out as a simple metaphor had morphed into something much more elaborate. It was a good metaphor if he had to say himself. There were a lot of things in life that were like chess, things that should be played to win; Walden was a man that liked to win. He had the ruthless streak and a certain disregard for laws and rules. It had let him to be successful many times over. Tonight would be no different.
When he saw Charlie Weasley finally emerge, Walden slipped his hood on and fell into step behind the red-haired man, waiting to be noticed. His footsteps were soft enough to go unnoticed for several moments until he finally wanted to be heard. He had to admit, walking around in his Death Eater's hood was a bit of a power trip just because people were so afraid of them lately. It was nice to be feared.
"You're wasting your time acting surprised to see me," Walden said with a snark. Not even he expected to catch any more Weasleys off guard. He wasn't dense enough to think they wouldn't be waiting for him to pop up. "I don't like liars." Walden taunted lightly as he pulled his wand from his pocket, slipping the chest piece back in it for safekeeping.
