Who Rolf Scamander and John Dawlish What Apparently, they can only give each other presents in the form of live birds When Sunday afternoon Where Their flat Status Incomplete Rating ?
It wasn't often that Rolf got out of bed on a Sunday, mostly because Sunday was one of the few days that he actually got to spend with Dawlish. Today, though, he had something he wanted to do and that meant getting out of the flat and going to Diagon Alley. So, he told John that he had a little errand to run and gave him a kiss before heading out into the cold.
After their talk about owls and getting one for themselves, Rolf thought he'd go out and take the initiative as a bit of a surprise. He really felt at home with John and spending their time together certainly made more sense than spending it mulling over what was going on at the Ministry and who should or shouldn't be trusted. He would be the first to admit that his research had been slipping (besides his connection with Bertie) but he didn't mind it all that much. He had a book to finish and with everything that was floating around him with Dumbledore's Army and the Order of the Phoenix he almost felt like staying at home and staying with John and away from just about everything else was the best thing to do.
He's spoken to Sirius Black about the Order of the Phoenix and that Organisation's interest in protecting werewolves. Sirius had started to imply even, that Scamander might be of some use to the Order, but Rolf simply wasn't having that. He had no respect for Albus Dumbledore, and seeing what was happening both in the wizarding world and at the school, Rolf sincerely doubted that that was going to change any time soon. But, in the interest of keeping abreast of the situation and in having a better source for information than the students of Hogwarts, Scamander kept most of his opinions about Albus to himself, and simply expressed that as an outsider who'd already been reminded that he ought to go back to Germany by some people, he felt he'd feel a bit strange coming in as an actual member. But, things might change and if John continued to operate in such a dangerous position at work, Scamander was more than willing to put some of his views aside in the interest of doing what was best for John.
And so there he was, in Eeylops Owl Emporium, realising that true love was getting out of bed on a Sunday to do something nice for someone. That it was putting aside political motivations to cast in with an organisation lead by the man responsible for destroying your country just because it might help keep a loved one safe. It really was a strange feeling, but certainly a nice one. In fact, it made him feel warm enough that he even loosened his scarf.

"Hallo?" There really wasn't any way to walk discreetly into the flat while trying to carry an owl cage and trying not to bang it against the wall. "Where is it that you got off too?"
He hoped he'd done all right, in deciding to go out and do this on his own and he also hoped that John would like the owl that he picked out for them. It had taken him a while to decide, after all.
