Marcus hated what was happening, but as he'd gone home his father had told him to pay attention to what he could do about things from inside Hogwarts, and so that was what he was planning on doing. He couldn't exactly do anything brave and dramatic - but he had skills. And researching a problem, seeing it from all the angles and finding ways to fix it, those were his skills.
Besides, he'd worked ahead in all his classwork over holiday, so he didn't have anything much to do in his classes right now.
So he was at his favorite table in the library, his back to a wall, nearly hidden by stacks of books that were on the table around him. And he was doing one thing that he really enjoyed - he was making a list of things that needed to be considered.
Blood consideration - stupid censorship uncle's potion Umbridge origins of magic/transition of magic - Ministry wouldn't give a fuck if they weren't right that damned arithmancy riddle Li helped me solve - has to be connected to something bigger Firenze/Flitwick/Hagrid Family records
Marcus' problem was that nothing was practical. He couldn't think of a way to start.
