Indeed, I would be lying if I told you I wished this letter found you well, but I still feel the slight urge to apologise for the absence of such pleasantries. Due to the sensitive nature of communicating with you, I hope you will also forgive me for the lack of a proper signature. I don't particularly find the need to introduce myself, as it were, because we have already met.
I was there in the graveyard, the night the Dark Lord returned; the night Cedric Diggory died (and can I just say what a tragedy that was? I heard he was an excellent seeker). That was, I am afraid, a terrible tragedy and I am sorry that it had to happen. It must be terrible for you to to think about that night, considering Cedric's death was entirely the fault of your own stupidity.
Your own cowardice.
I wonder, Harry, how does it feel to know that there are people who would die for you? Who would perhaps even kill for you -a child- without thought of consequences? I’ve certainly seen this to be true, what with what happened in the Department of Mysteries not that long ago, where everyone fought for you and once again, someone died because you couldn’t face your adversary alone.
Now, I’m not about to suggest that your friends will be spared if you were to turn yourself over to us and to the Dark Lord, Harry, because I’m not going to insult your intelligence and you and I both know that any such promises would be false. Instead, I would simply like to ask: How many do you think you can watch die before it breaks you? How long before you, yourself, are begging for death to relieve the pain and the guilt of failing to protect and save those around you who believed and trusted that you and yours would? I really would like to know.
Do enjoy yourself, Harry, and enjoy your company while you still have it because time is running out and I hope that you and yours make the most of what fleeting moments you have remaining. Best of luck to you, of course, because you will need it. Luck, Mr. Potter, is the only chance that you have.Sincerely,
An Enemy.
