The owl had been sent as soon as it was written and the girl signed, holding her chest with such a firm grip that she almost had herself convinced that she was holding in heat. Matty thought about signing the owl Matilda, only to make him laugh, but thought against it in case someone was near him when he got the owl. MAD worked enough, if he didn’t know at least two of her initials, well, whatever. She didn’t even want to think about all of the feelings that she had in her chest, in her head. How can one person feel so many things at once? It was almost impossible for her to hold it together without crying or shutting down entirely which were two things that she was so sick of doing lately.
Why couldn’t things just be normal?
And why, honestly, why, when she was looking for things to be normal was she owling Sebastian? His owl just came back to her signed SAD, which made her smile. She folded up his reply and gave his owl an affectionate pet on it’s back, being gentle that way it wouldn’t be irritated with her. It seemed nice enough but it was cold, so she sent it on its way, staring out the window behind it. “I guess some things aren’t meant for me to understand,” she said sadly behind it, her breath excelling white breath out of her body. If it was this cold, it should just snow already. So there she stood, waiting for him to come down, hopefully with a blanket in tow.
