Rowan shrugged, less because he didn't care (because he did) but more because he didn't see that there was anymore danger for them to fear now than there was before - all Purebloods thought that anyone else was worthless and would crush them underfoot without looking back. Or so he thought.
He didn't think he was safe though; in a school where he was locked in with girls, with Purebloods? He would have been better off on his own out there. At least there no one would stop him from protecting himself.
