A bit later...
Jimmy woke up to a cold breeze making it's way through the window. He groggily blinked at the window and realized he was staring at Nigel's owl flapping it's last before landing. He dutifully got up, stepping on something dull and stifling a cry out at it.
When he turned to take the animal on the sleeve of his pajamas, he realized that Dennis wasn't in his bed. A sense of dread filled Jimmy with a new kind of cold. Something very strange was going on. The cancellation of the fireworks? Being confined to their dorms? Dennis being tense and staring at his journal all night?
At first, Jimmy checked the loo, but only found darkness. Jimmy felt his feet carrying him downstairs rather quickly, into the warmer part of the Commons where he found quite a large congregation of people- or at least larger than he expected to see.
His eyes searched cautiously at the faces in the Commons and found fear and forlorn. "What's going on?" He hesitated, asking everyone. He leaned down and put a chaste kiss against Dennis' cheek, leaning on the back of the couch that Dennis had perched himself. His question to Dennis was softer and more personal, "`Everything okay, Den?"
