Who Rolf Scamander and John Dawlish What The Aftermath When Saturday Evening Where Their flat Status Incomplete
Although Remus had left in the evening to go see his cousin after the news of her return, Rolf had stayed where he was in Hogsmeade, tried and quite satisfied both with himself and with how his afternoon had unraveled. He'd meant to write to John and tell him that he wouldn't be returning until morning, but too much wine ended up catching the better of him and he fell asleep before he could make his way through the heap of clothing at the end of the bed and find his journal.
He hadn't bothered with the train, feeling guilty about not writing to John the night before, and instead he apparated from Hogsmeade back to London and returned to their Bloomsbury flat only to find that John wasn't there. It surprised him, a little, that the man had perhaps gone to work on a Saturday, but worried that Dawlish might be a bit miffed with him for not writing and staying out all night, Rolf decided he might want to just wait until he returned and not pester him at work.
Rolf didn't like worrying about whether or not John was angry. It was an odd feeling and one that he wasn't at all used to. Normally, it barely crossed his mind what other people thought of him. But of course, John was the bloody exception once more. He'd even thought about John before things had really gotten started with Lupin, but he'd pushed that aside quickly enough.
It began to push late into the evening, however, it was Rolf's turn to worry. He sat in one of the chairs in the living room with a book which he tried to read, but soon ended up just staring blankly at the pages as his mind wandered to terrible, terrible places as he thought about where on earth it was that John could be. It wasn't beyond him, of course, to work late--but this was ridiculous.
When he finally heard the latch and the keys turn in the door, he was on his feet before he even realised. He didn't say anything, because he wasn't sure what to say. He wanted to tell John, the moment he saw him, that he was worried about where he'd been but that felt so unfair. So he just said nothing, and watched as his lover came in through the door.
