Who Sirius Black and Miles Bletchley What They finally get to talking When Friday Where Their shared place of employment. Status High, for language
Miles Bletchley wasn't an idiot. He could tell from the moment he'd started working for Remus, James, and Sirius that Sirius Black didn't like him. Or, no, it was more than that. Sirius Black didn't trust him. He supposed, really, that Black couldn't be entirely blamed. His parents had been suspected Death Eaters during the first war. (Hell, he knew for a fact that they'd been Death Eaters) and Miles had always gone out of his way to cover up every inch of his personal life. He'd told Remus that his parents had died, of course, but he'd begged him not to say anything to anyone else, and Lupin had agreed. But that didn't make Miles any less the offspring of pureblooded elite, and he knew that Sirius knew it.
He'd tried, whenever Black made his brief appearances at the store, to be nice. He didn't say anything if Sirius made some snide remark about his parents, (though it hurt) or his Slytherin alumni status.
There was no denying the fact that Miles hoped being here, with these war heroes, might bring him a bit closer to finding a way to avenge his parents. This, of course, wasn't something he'd wanted to share with Daphne because she was always worried about him as it was. This was something else. Something private. He knew that if anyone had any leads on the whereabouts of one Antonin Dolohov, he was probably working among them. Sure, that meant it made the 'blood traitor' sign above his head glow a little bit brighter, but he didn't care. If the Death Eaters ever found him, they'd finish the job that they started with his parents. They'd kill him for abandoning the Dark Lord's circle just like they killed his mother and father.
The former Slytherin was in the back, stocking shelves, when he heard the front door open and he hurried out in case it was a customer. Remus was normally there with him during the day, but this afternoon he'd said he had a friend to meet. He hadn't bothered to fill in Miles on any of the other details, and Bletchley hadn't asked because it wasn't really his business.
He was a bit surprised to see Sirius Black standing there. Since he'd heard news of Sirius' reunion with his son, he'd seen even less of him around the Quidditch Shoppe, which was fine with him. Whenever Black was there, the hair on the back of Bletchley's neck seemed to stand up, like he could feel just how much he was disliked.
"Hello." He said, offering an insincere smile which he dropped a moment later because he knew there wasn't any point in pretending. "If you're looking for Remus, he's gone. It's just me here at the moment. I'm by myself."
