Who: Poppy Pomfrey and Antonin Dolohov
When: Sunday morning
Where: Unknown
What: This is what happens when you talk to Death Eaters.
Rating: TBD, likely unpleasant
Poppy woke up, jolting to consciousness with a surprised gasp. The ghost of adrenaline ran through her veins as she remembered--a stunning spell, trying to dodge, and... nothing. Apparently, she thought drily, she hadn't dodged well enough.
Biting her lip in an old childhood nervous habit, she looked around with wide eyes at the empty room in which she found herself. Small, no windows, a single torch near the door lighting the room well enough for Poppy to see--she swallowed hard--that she was naked. She automatically stood to head for the door, only to be pulled up short. A thin chain was fastened to her ankle, the other end stuck to the wall. Like an animal, Poppy's thoughts helpfully supplied.
She took a deep breath, then another, until she was dizzy and sank to her knees. Think, Pomfrey, she told herself, with an inner voice that sounded astonishingly like Alastor Moody. Don't you dare pass out!
"Okay, thinking," she said aloud, using her voice to push panic away. "I was at Hogsmeade--oh God, the children!" What if this was part of a larger attack? What if children were hurt? What about her fellow teachers, the townspeople, the Aurors? What if--
I told you not to pass out! her inner Alastor snapped, and Poppy turned her focus on breathing until the world stopped spinning.
"I won't pass out," she replied, not caring that she had been awake for mere minutes and was already talking to herself.
Good girl. So, you don't know the what or the where, but I think you've got a handle on the who and the why. Poppy blinked, confused by her own inner monologue. Come on! inner Alastor said, impatiently. How many Death Eaters have I had you chatting with, anyway?
The world paused, as Poppy realized how very stupid she had been. "Oh. Antonin," she muttered, the word sounding more like a curse.
Though she waited for a reply, her inner Alastor did not respond. It would be useless to cry, so Poppy didn't. She just sat and waited, breathing.
