Characters: Toad Cresswell and Verity Weller
Setting: Ange and Verity's houseboat, Friday evening
Summary: Not your normal date night
Rating: TBD
It had been one of the longest days Toad could remember for awhile. He hadn't been able to get his head on straight since his run in with Audrey, his thoughts and emotions bouncing all over the map. One of the first things he had wanted to do was talk to Verity, she had so quickly become such a fundamental part of his life and someone he turned to first with news. But talking about exes wasn't something you did lightly in a relationship, everyone had them but they weren't exactly a common topic to bring up. And his story was so much more complicated than simply 'We dated and then we didn't' after all. Instead he'd sought his brother who was always there for him and knew the story better than anyone except for him and Audrey.
By the time he was finally able to lock up the shop and get ready for Verity's he finally felt a little more on top of things. Not that he understood or had dealt with the surge of emotion seeing her had drummed up, he simply didn't feel quite so panicky anymore. He changed into a clean shirt and washed his face before making sure Harley was set for the night before grabbing a handful of floo powder and tossed it into the grate.
Stepping out of the fireplace, Toad brushed the soot from his clothes before moving further into the boat, bottle of wine in hand. "Ver?" he called out, not too loudly, and headed for the kitchen first to set the bottle of wine down. She appeared as he turned around and he suddenly felt slightly better about everything. "Ver," he said again, smiling as he pulled her into a tight hug, not ready to let go of her right away.
