His last look and nod made her raise her hand in a wave, and when she turned, Audrey felt lighter and happier than she had in the last week.
There had been a certain amount of dread in meeting Toad for the first time, and Audrey was pleased with the way it had worked out. And she had been able to speak to him, not chickening out as she had been afraid she would. Smiling to herself for being bold, she couldn't help but notice how good he looked, and how happy he seemed. She wanted to walk more, and strolled down the street, appreciating all the colors around her that had deepened and thinking about a dog, and a man, and getting ideas for some possible artistic creations. But even as she walked, her feet slowed as she thought about the flashes of emotions he'd shown and she couldn't help but wonder what the future held for them. Could they be friends? Would he want to be more? Did she want to be more? She was glad to have seen him, but confused at how she felt, not realizing she would be up most of the night, thinking about him.
