Who: OPEN to any who can and want to attend! When: Wednesday, September 21, all day Where: Hogsmeade What: Annual Hogsmeade Autumnal Equinox Celebration Rating: Low Open/Closed: OPEN
The sky was overcast and the temperature chilly, though there was no rain in the forecast for Hogsmeade Village, which was great for the Celebration. Workmen and Vendors were there early in the morning to set up the Fairgrounds. A large stage was the central point, with vendors of different kinds setting up booths around, selling fare as varied as fresh honey from local beekeepers, home brewed ale and produce, to Quidditch fan wear and pre made potions in vials, ready-to-use. From the food court the smell of roasted turkey mingled with hot, mulled wine and baked delicacies was enough to tempt anybody.
Off to one side, a pumpkin patch was set up for people to make their choice by size and weight. A little further, a corn maze had been magically grown and laid out to stump visitors. A pair of horses pulled a wagon for hayrides around the village, the main roads of which were decorated with flags, banners and bundles of corn stalks, giving it a very rustic, but festive feel.
The Celebration was started with a (thankfully short) speech, given by Minister Rufus Scrimgeour, who officially heralded the opening of festivities, who then handed the stage to Glenda Chittock, famed Wizarding Wireless personality.
There would be jugglers and dancers... a performance by WADA, doing a snippet from their upcoming production, The Fountain of Fair Fortune... singers and musicians... but the biggest interest came when it was announced that members of the Weird Sisters would be performing throughout the day.
What more could anybody ask for in an Autumnal Celebration?
