Monday’s always seemed like they were the worst. Probably because they were the first day back at classes after a long weekend of doing a whole lot of nothing interesting. Nick split his time between attempting to work on his homework and confiscating a few WWW items from first and second years thick enough to use them in the common room. Normally he would have ignored them, but Nick was feeling kind of guilty for being the world’s worst Prefect so he was attempting to make himself feel better and prove that he wasn’t a pointless choice for the position. Also, he loved WWW products and would put them to far better use than any first year could hope to. Which was a thought process that completely went against his plan to be a better Prefect and student this year.
As a way to push himself even further from any sort of responsibility, he had wandered out of the castle after dinner with his school bag so that he could pretend he was going to do homework. The likelihood of him doing anything useful was quite low. He hadn’t actually be outside the castle for anything other than Care of Magical Creatures since school had began. Just being outside instantly put Nick in a better mood, even if there was a slight chill in the air, one that came with the onset of fall.
Reaching the lake, he tossed his bag down underneath his favorite tree that happened to be a little too close to the path around the lake for comfort of those who happened to be walking along the path. This was made even worse when flopped to the ground, head on his schoolbag and feet stretched out as far as they would go, eyes closed and mind miles away. It wasn’t exactly the safest place to lie down, but Nick’s mind wasn’t exactly focused on such minor things. He was too busy trying to figure out if he had managed to kill his Billywig, whether or not his team had a chance at the Cup this year and trying to figure out exactly what he thought about a certain Ravenclaw.
