As he leaned on one hand idly making doodles on a piece of parchment that was supposed to be his Charms essay, Nick was really beginning to regret the promise he made to himself about actually doing his homework on time. It seemed entirely pointless for him to be inside after classes while the sun was still out and it was light enough for him to fly his broom. Instead he was sitting at a table near the back of the library piled high with his schoolbooks and parchment getting absolutely nothing done.
Letting out a groan of frustration, he shoved his barely started essay aside and let his forehead fall and hit the table. Nick began to hit his head rhythmically against the hard wood of the table, mentally berating himself for being the laziest student in Hogwarts the past five years. It was beginning to hurt his head but at the moment he felt as if he deserved it. As at sixteen, he should have been capable of writing at least a paragraph of a Charms essay in the hour he’d already spent in the library. Or at least, Nick felt as if he should have been able to do so. Finally giving in to the fact that he was going to give himself a headache, he stopped banging his head against the table and instead just let it rest there as he sat defeated and utterly annoyed. Homework had beaten him once again, Nick was just too proud to admit it at the moment. He was still in the same position when he heard someone set something down on the table . Not bothering to move, he just said. “I’ve been murdered by my Charms essay. Please inform my friends.” There weren’t a lot of people who would sit next to him when he was acting touched in the head. Nick figured he was probably safe in assuming that it was someone he knew. It also took too much effort at the moment to lift his head and see who it was.
