Walden paced the length of his study, back and forth and back and forth. The sound of his shoes on the polished mahogany counted out a stead rhythm and was almost hypnotic. He was expecting a visitor and he was anxious to see what news this visitor would bring. It had been too long. Maybe, perhaps, it was bad news? He prayed silently that one of his children had not done something drastic enough to get themselves into trouble; that always was a possibility. His drink sat forgotten on his desk the condensation dripping onto his desk because he had forgotten the coaster, again. Not like he couldn't afford another one. Besides, there had been worse on his desk; like a bloodied axe.
"Make sure you answer the door, you bloody moron." Walden snapped in the direction of his house elf that was working on dusting the bookcase. It was no secret his house elf was a bit lacking in the manner in which he did his job but it was not like Walden could get rid of him. He knew too much. Hell, he saw too much. Then again, he supposed he could just flay his bones and be done with it. It would be an easy job. Oh how his knife would slip through the boney creature like butter. His eyes would surely beg for the mercy of death, that was until Walden gave it to him. Then they would slowly go dark; he relished the moment in which life perished from the eyes of the living. It was intoxicating as any liquor he had known. Maybe even more so than the love of a woman...
"Answer the door." He barked at the elf as he heard the sound of a knock.
