(Stealing the idea since it was a brilliant one)
McGonagall's classroom appears the same as it has been for years; the black boards were covered in complex diagrams and notes that were expected to be copied down by students. The desks were neatly arranged in rows with the Professor's desk firmly placed in front. The lighting was bright and the thick dark curtains were pulled over the windows as if to discourage daydreaming. McGonagall did not, of course, put up with people being distracted in her class room.
As the students piled in, she directed them to quickly take their seats after turning in their summer homework. No excuses are taken and those that did not complete their homework receive a warning that it needed to be completed by the next class and lose their house ten points. Next she takes a quick roll call and reminds students that journals are NOT permitted in her classroom for any reason. She encourages students to place their journals in their bags and leave them there. Anyone caught with one from that point on will be subjected to detention and losing their house fifty points. After all the last minute reminders are taken care of McGonagall starts lecturing as there are many things they need to cover and little time to do them.
