"Don't," John snapped, taking another step closer and shoving his wand at him again when Avery went for his pocket. "Keep your hands where I can see them." Which for now, unfortunately, included being wrapped around the Muggle woman's mouth. He could stun her, too, he supposed, if he had to. It would be dangerous, but it wasn't as though she was all that well off now. And if he didn't take them both down, Avery might just be able to Apparate away with her.
"Yes, I'm still here," he confirmed, shrugging off the insult and keeping as close an eye as he could on the man's wand-hand. "We put your lot away the first time, and we'll do it again. It's a matter of time. Now let her go," he repeated, taking his eyes off his hand long enough to look him square in the eye, "And maybe you can go back to just serving that one sentence, hm? Should be fun enough for any lifetime. You don't need another one."
