Log: Enid & Cassie WHO: Cassie Lang & Enid Sinclair WHAT: Halloween Chats WHERE: The Station elevator WHEN: Backdated to before Halloween RATING: Low STATUS: Completed
Cassie loved the holidays, especially when her dad was around. She wished she could have her mom and stepdad too, but it was nice making up for lost time with Scott. As such, she spent way too much money on Halloween decorations for their little family. She heard about the door decorating contest and was determined to win.
She entered the Station weighed down by bags when she spotted Enid. “Enid, hi! How are you?” She didn’t know the girl too well, but she was always kind and cheerful, which Cassie admired.
Enid had a pumpkin spice latte in one hand and way too many bags precariously held in the other. Well, by other people’s standards maybe. Not hers. Enid had never marched to the beat of anyone's drum but her own. And that was especially true when it came to doing the things she loved. Today, that meant decorating a kick ass door for she, Wednesday and Bucky. Everyone knew Wednesday and Bucky wouldn’t be stepping up. So it was all her.
She’d be roping them in, though.
She smiled brightly when Cassie walked in, just as she pressed the button for the elevator, with a cheerful greeting. “Hi Cassie!” She beamed. “It looks like you and I had the same idea today.”
Cassie laughed as she noticed Enid’s bags. “I love Halloween,” she admitted as she waited for the elevator with Enid. “I’m excited about the decorating contest. I don’t even need a prize. I just want to win!” So she was a little competitive.
“So do I! I love decorating.” And the competition was just another excuse to do that. Her smile widened when Cassie said she just wanted to win, recognizing that gleam in her eye. “I see we have a few competitive people around the Station.” She wasn’t all that concerned, herself. She just wanted to have fun. And maybe write about it in her blog. That part was always fun.
Cassie looked sheepish. “I’m a little competitive, yeah. I won’t put a hole in the wall or anything if I don’t, but winning is definitely more fun than losing.”
“I love it,” Enid enthused. “It just adds to the fun!” She gave a slightly more conspiratorial smile. “Don’t worry, I won’t ask you to tell me what theme you’re going with. Top secret stuff.” Her own was going to involve some well timed cameos from Thing to really add some pizazz.
“Good, because it would be awkward when I didn’t tell you,” Cassie teased. “Honestly, I’ll probably drive everyone nuts in my apartment for the holidays. I love getting in the spirit, you know?” Granted, it made her miss her family from home, but she was happy to have her Station family too.
Enid laughed at the teasing, walking into the elevator ahead of her when the doors opened. “So do I. Christmas is great, too.” She was one of those rare ones who actually unironically enjoyed Christmas Carols, much to Wednesday’s dismay, she was sure. She couldn’t wait to test them out on Bucky. “I can’t wait. We can have a big Christmas dinner up on the roof.” All of them together.
Cassie followed Enid into the elevator. She was only going up a floor, but her hands were full so she didn’t feel like taking the stairs. “A big dinner might be nice,” Cassie agreed. “This way no one is alone.”
“That would be horrible. I’m so lucky I’ve got Wednesday here. And Bucky is the best roommate. He’s so grouchy, I love it.” He wasn’t actually always a grump, but Enid loved to tease. Mostly she just wanted everyone to be happy. And that included her new friends here.
“I’m lucky I have my parents and Carol and Kamala,” Cassie agreed as the elevator chimed, signaling her stop. “We’ll plan more later, okay?”
“Totally!” Enid agreed, with an excited little bounce she couldn’t stop. “Have fun decorating your door, Cassie. May the best one win!” She added cheekily as Cassie stepped out.
