Lucy had only been with Jesse a couple of hours. Long enough that she was probably wondering where her mama was. Jesse couldn't fathom why the baby had arrived in San Francisco without her mother, effectively making him her only care giver. He didn't know the first thing about taking care of her for more than a few hours. A few people had helped, but in the end he was on his own with the infant.
He had tried pacing around the apartment with her, but he'd eventually wandered out of the apartment, feeling like they could both use a change of pace. She was finally quiet, sleeping in his arms, when he came across Klaus.
"Everything all right, Klaus?" Jesse and Klaus had been roommates in the apartments the last time Jesse had been in San Francisco. Jesse hadn't been there long, he didn't really know Klaus all that well. But he knew him, and he could see the man wasn't in good shape.
