Who: Emily Bright and Open
When: Sunday Afternoon, Jan 9
Where: Not far from The Station
What: Doing the hero thing
Warnings: TBD!

"Whoa! Hey! Calm down, okay? I'm just trying to help!"

Emily had walked past the corner store plenty of times on her way to school. The owner and his wife were delightful. Had a specific bag of chips she liked; that she would eat all the time back home in Kansas. They'd even offer Emily free muffins in the morning. Emily wouldn't accept without offering some sort of payment, but she was always grateful.

Now, the husband looked crazed. His eyes glowed red, skin seemingly burning around them as orbs of unknown energy swirled around the store. His wife was in the back room, her frightened face peering out of the door's window. Things had certainly gone from the new normal to crazy in the matter of hours after the storm the previous day.

The storm that Emily had apparently slept through.

"Can't we talk about this, mister!?" Ducking behind a mailbox to dodge two of the strange red orbs, Emily let out a heavy sigh. "Guess not." Her own eyes glowing briefly, a flash of intense yellow, she threw a bit of firepower of her own. Burning bolts of yellow...something. Not even Emily knew if it was fire, electricity, or just energy from some other world or dimension. Regardless, it threw the man back into his store, blowing out the rest of the glass in the front window and disintegrating the store's sign.

Maybe that was just a tad too much.

Al thought his new-found power was stupid. He could already duplicate items through a duplication spell. He didn't need items to randomly multiply when he touched them. Still, he guessed he didn't have a choice in the matter so he decided to go for a walk to clear his head. However, he heard the commotion and quickly headed toward it. "Emily? Are you alright?" He looked back at the store. It would look rough even with his cleaning spells.

She was slightly out of breath, some dust on her clothes from the mess, but gave Al a friendly smile. Even a wave. She already looked tired, though.

Despite the studying and training Emily had been learning at Strange Academy, using her abilities off-campus was still draining. Especially without the boost the grounds offered thanks to Hoggoth and the rest of the Vishanti.

"Yeah. I think so. Nothing too bruised or burned. Except for the store, of course." Giving a slight shrug and a brief, sheepish look, Emily stole a glance toward the mess.

"Crap! We need to check on his wife!"

Al looked back at the demolished shop. "Uh, yeah, alright, I'll go with you." He drew his wand and headed toward the store. "Madam?" he called out.

Stepping over pieces of brick and mortar, Emily gently kicked aside busted boxes of crackers, donuts, and other items that had lost their place on the shelves.

As Al held ready his wand, Emily held a flicking ball of fire in her hand, prepared for the worst. The last thing she wanted was more of a fight or to hurt anyone. Especially when it was so undeserved.

The man's wife peeked out from behind the door leading to the backroom that, miraculously, was still standing. Her husband seemed to be down for the count, surrounded by puddles of milk, orange juice, and energy drinks. Extinguishing the ball of fire, Emily hopped over some fallen shelves.

"It's okay, Mrs. Lee! We're here to help," she said, grinning and gestured to herself and Al.

Albus was not on a name basis with the store owners so he let Emily do the talking as he started muttering some cleaning spells. Shelves started to right themselves and items started floating to their rightful places. "Should we call Mrs. Parker to help heal him?" He gestured to the fallen man. "Or is he going to try to kill us all?"

"I don't know. Maybe he's okay now? It just kind of happened out of no where." Emily continued as she offered Mrs. Lee a helpful hand with another on the woman's shoulder.

"Maybe the power was building up and it was just too much for him." She frowned a bit at the thought and sighed. "We're here, though, so maybe it'll be okay?"

It was a tough call. She didn't want to put anyone else in danger. There had been enough of that just moments ago. "I could, um, try and put him in a stasis or sorts? Just until he gets some help?"

"Like a time-out," Al responded before he flicked his wand toward a mess on the floor. A mop flew out of the closet and started wiping up the cracked eggs. He'd never been so grateful for magic as he was just then. Cleaning by hand would have been a pain. He flicked his wand again, muttered another spell, and several broken fridge doors began to seal themselves. "Do it. It'll give him a rest and keep everyone..." He glanced at the man's wife. "Uh, sorry, but safe."
