PLOT: DONNA TROY, a doctor, moves to the remote, festive town of Garland, Alaska, for what they think is a temporary job as the local physician. DONNA is quickly charmed by JEN WALTERS, an attractive local who soon starts to show them the importance of living in the moment and enjoying the unexpected adventure—and whose father may be hiding a major secret in his holiday shipping warehouse.

Jen didn't feel like cooking so she headed to the local diner after work. She slid up to the counter and smiled at the waiter. "The usual," she told him with a laugh. Her usual was a coffee and french toast with scrambled eggs no matter the time of day. She started making small talk with the rest of the locals when Donna caught her eye. "Oh, Doc, hi!"

Donna had been more than a little hesitant about taking the offered job in such a small town. It was meant to be temporary, just something to help out until they could hire a permanent replacement. But she couldn't help slowly falling in love with the little place. It may not have had a Macy's or even a Safeway, but it did have cute bakeries and diners where everyone knew you.

And pretty women who eagerly welcomed you when you walked in for a patty melt. Whatever a patty melt was.

"Hi," she offered up a smile, pulling herself on to the high top stool beside Jennifer. Jen, she apparently preferred? Or maybe Donna had just taken to calling her that warmly. "Didn't expect to run into you here." Though she didn't know why since she seemed to run into Jen everywhere.

	Jen chuckled and sipped from her glass of water. "I love this place. It saves me cooking most nights." Jen could cook, but she preferred not to after a long day at work. "So, how are you settling?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Didn't enjoy cooking. Adding that to the mental list of notes Donna was keeping - about all the locals, not just Jen, she reminded herself - she shrugged. "Okay, I think. I didn't expect it to be so quiet, I don't think. I don't remember the last time I got more than seven hours of sleep in a single night." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Donna pondered the question as she waved the young waitress over to get herself a soda and order the...melt thingie. Finally, she turned to look more clearly at Jen. "I needed a change. They offered assistance with relocating - apparently you guys really did need a doctor out here. And I've never lived outside of New York City so if you're going to make a change, this is the one."

"According to old Randall Smithins, all you need is some good horse wormer and a bleach bath or two and it'll fix you right up." Donna added a twang to her voice in her best imitation of Randall. "I'll get him in to see me one day."

She smiled at that light touch. "I'm glad I'm here. Mostly. I'd still kill for a trip to Bloomingdale's, but that's what online ordering is for, I guess."
