Miss Smith's breakfast that morning had been absolutely scrumptious. Asriel had heard about it last minute and rushed for a bite but then ended up actually staying around for seconds. But he ate fast. He had something he was working on and he wanted to finish as much of it as possible before his ...date.
Because it was definitely a date. Mobius had asked him to wear a suit and tie. He was taking him out somewhere nice. Very nice. Now it wasn't as though Asriel wasn't used to such environments. But this was different. In what way, well Asriel chose not to dwell on that or else let his mind get swept up in the clouds.
For the rest of the day, up until he had to stop and get ready, he spent painting on the walls in his living room. Cassie had helped to paint the one in his bedroom, a beautiful mural of snowy mountains and deep valleys. Out here in the living room, he went for something a bit bigger; the night sky complete with a waning moon and stars that made up constellations. It was a lot of work but he was enjoying every minute of it. When it was all done, he would have to invite Marisa over for a look. And for her, hopefully good, opinion.
He was still trying to pick the dried paint flecks from under his fingernails when he arrived at the restaurant hours later. Time had gotten away from him so he was late but only by a little. The host up front had been kind to him, even after his failed attempt at a joke that oddly ended up rhyming as he said it. She brought him quickly to where Mobius was patiently waiting.
Asriel was all smiles as he walked up. He thanked the host before she left and then took a moment to admire Mobius' attire before taking his seat. "You look wonderful, dear. Thank you for inviting me here." Hm. That didn't come out as smooth as he liked. Strange.
