Though mostly Mobius was known to be nice and good-hearted, anyone who really knew him also knew that he was also very talented in the ways of manipulation. His ability to get what he needed out of someone had been the reason why he’d been such an exceptional analyst for the TVA. He had been a terrible hunter, that position had never fit him right, but as an analyst, he’d risen to the top becoming one of the best and all of that was in large part to do with his ability to manipulate, both people and situations. So really, could he fault Asriel for doing the same thing? It felt a bit like living in a glass house and throwing stones to Mobius.
Mobius still didn’t really know what he thought about being stuck in this time. It wasn’t the worst thing that could happen to him. He had his best friend back, even if he thought that would be temporary. It kind of had to be, considering what Loki’s purpose was now, but it helped to have him around even if only for a little while. And it wasn’t like he had anywhere to be, not anymore. What else was he going to do? Stand around like a sad-sack wishing he was Don? That hardly seemed healthy.
Still, he also wanted to do his best to help anyone who wanted to leave. They should have that option. He hadn’t spent the last year or so working towards freeing the timelines with everyone else at the TVA for this to happen. There was some sort of exception going on here that he couldn’t really stand by. And if Asriel wanted to leave, Mobius would help him. Even if that thought hurt more than he cared to admit.
It was as if a light shone out from Mobius at the lovely words from his dining companion. It made him feel warm and happy, like maybe for once something truly good would happen for him, even if he did worry that the rug would be pulled out from under him, like when he’d found out about his life before.
“Between you and that damned voice, I don’t think there will be a problem making me blush more,” he muttered, sounding annoyed even as his cheeks continued to burn.
He couldn’t help but feel touched at Asriel’s words though and that much would be clear on his face without the voice announcing it for all to hear. He smiled at him, though it was tinged a bit with sadness knowing exactly what Asriel meant about the reason for this being a first for him. “I’m sorry you came from a place like that. I never did understand that philosophy. And to answer your question, no, no experience at all really. I have friends, but they’re not expecting to see me any time soon, so I doubt they’re looking. The only person who might have noticed I was really gone is here himself, but I think I mentioned something about that before.”
