They barely knew each other. Yes, they could glean a lot from just this meeting alone but without further prodding, the information would be from shallow waters. If he went off appearances alone, he could extrapolate a lot about Mobius and how he lived his life. But that was only so much. There was no way of knowing if he was lying about who he was or what he was doing here. Asriel was eager to discover his tell, of course, but he was like a cat with its prey; he liked to play with it a little first.
Meanwhile, Stelmaria enjoyed the attention she was getting from Mobius. Her nose would have wrinkled at the thought that he was comparing her to a common house cat. But his effort to reach out to her was much appreciated. She raised her head up to his hand and allowed him a brief touch. But only that and then she was turning and curling back around Asriel's legs as quickly as she had appeared. This world was different than theirs in ways that had her uncomfortable. There was a warmth to her features, however, as she glanced up to Asriel. I like him.
On that, they both agreed. They did barely know each other and Asriel was sure there was plenty about the timelines and his situation that he wasn't sharing but so far, Mobius was proving to be far more interesting than he had anticipated. What he'd gotten so far of the other man, Asriel liked. He didn't hold back about how he felt about his own organization. Just how long had he been with these Timeline Keepers? If he wasn't surprised by the sudden 'retirement', then it had to have been a long time indeed.
"Were you allowed to go to any timeline you liked? I don't know if I would have been able to stick to one for very long. I would have to see them all, if possible." Just the idea had him get more excited. His head filled with questions again; could he go to any time? Did he have to put in paperwork for every timeline? Were there different versions of the same timeline and could he go to each one? Of course, the mention of the timeline being completely erased had him holding his tongue. Was that actually possible? If it was, what a terrifying thought.
But Asriel had discovered something far more fascinating; that shade of red on Mobius' cheeks. Oh, he couldn't help looking smug at that. "Really interesting, hm? More than me right now?" He lifted his glass and let the scotch spin before taking another sip. Maybe his own cheeks were flushed by now. "A magic door? Fascinating. Your life sounds like one grand adventure after another. I have to say, I'm jealous. You must take me on one some day."
