"San Francisco? No. Though it does seem to be a place I would. Perhaps when I was younger." It was a nice city. Truly lovely. There were so many freedoms here. This place, this time, it wasn't like anything else. He wondered if it would have been the same back in their own timeline. Doubtful. But then Asriel's expectations of everything and everyone had been lowered exponentially in the last handful of years. Experience had taught him better.
Of course he noticed how little Marisa was telling him. True, he had yet to ask her directly or bring up their previous conversation. But Asriel had hoped that maybe, for once, she would be more open with him. Sadly, she was keeping him in the dark again.
But there was still light to find in the shadows. He hadn't expected Marisa and Lyra to meet. Not this soon. Although, honestly, he should have been surprised it taken this long for it to happen. Still, he was curious how that had gone. Again, there were no more details coming from Marisa on the matter.
He set his cup on the table, crossed his arms and sighed. "She was told by someone. I imagine the same someone that told her who you were." As for how he ended up here, he just shrugged. "I didn't make it through. This is something else. I'm not sure what powers that be could have achieved such a thing but I intend on discovering who. Sooner rather than later. But I'm at a standstill. No one knows anything here. And most are content to stay and be." If he sounded irritated by the idea, well he was. Asriel didn't do well being stuck against his will. "You mentioned angels. Care to share with the rest of the class?"
