Maybe one of these days I won't be as excited about another rotation around the sun (or mundane things like school), but when you've outlived your original expiration date by two years these things are still kind of a big deal.

I don't suppose anyone knows if there are professorial openings at the local college or university that might need a highly-specialized professor with a background that's probably not at all useful in this world? Or I can probably teach British history or British literature or something if I tried hard enough.

Hullo, everyone. I'm Harry Potter. You might already know my wife, Ginny, the fiery red-head with a lot of opinions who works at the Bit and Barrel. Or my son, Albus, the smart, driven one who I'm told has been here for years even though I just saw him yesterday at school.

Not sure how people can deal with years of schooling when I can barely get through the week without wanting to throw things. How is it not Friday yet?

Is it weird that I miss my parents the most when I remember my birthday is coming up? Like, not either of their birthdays but my birthday specifically?

Or is that just selfish?

September just feel really, really long to anyone else?

I have been here long enough to see times like these, where a larger group arrives or returns all at once. It does not make anything easier, it will likely never get any more easy to deal with when we lose loved ones.

But now is a time for support. Ask for it, provide it, whatever you need or are able to do. Check on your neighbors, "our people" or otherwise. The smallest offering can make a world of difference in times like these. We are in this together.

Classes start in three days, then we have a long weekend, because that makes sense? Like, why not wait till after the Holiday to start classes?

I joined a first year pathway, so I'll be in three classes with the same people. It seemed like a good way to meet people on campus when I'm not staying in the dorms. Which I'm glad I'm not. I watched some of the move-in process, and it just seemed like chaos. Also, what if I got a completely incompatible person as a roommate?! I wouldn't want to torture myself while trying to figure out college.

But, also, I think if I asked him nicely, Scott would play the part and leave the backwash of a gallon of milk in the fridge when I want a bowl of cereal.

The tropical fruit has fallen. The age of the gourd has begun.

Which is, to say, IT'S PUMPKIN SEASON!!!! Okay I'm a couple of weeks early I guess but all the big name bakeries are at it already and a girl has to keep up!

Promised road trip over Labor Day Weekend?

It isn't exactly a pattern but it's a little strange how many of us are from very far in the future. Which brings up the point of how chaotic the choices are as far as where people land here from.

Work will be dried up for a week in a week. If you don't want to watch me lounge around, now is your chance to either make plans elsewhere or figure out if you want to do something as a trio.

Spent most of the day off catching up on comics I'd gotten from new comic day this week. (they're pretty obscure ones...) Realized probably no one or next to no one has read most of these titles. No one to talk to about them. Is there interest for a book club of sorts? Be it comics or novels or both?
