Second Chances: the Network

Luz's upcoming art show has given me an idea, but I need some volunteers.

I'm looking for 5-6 people willing to let me follow them discretely at night and take candids. I've never been one for portraiture, but I like capturing people in their unexpected moments.

Trust me, you won't even know I was there.

And I promise I won't use anything embarrassing or compromising.

The thing I'm most thankful for this year is that at Halloween I asked the most beautiful, brilliant, and intelligent woman in the world to marry me. And I'm even MORE thankful that Dee said yes!

Yes, it's a little earlier than we initially planned but this place is chaotic at best and it felt like the time to do the asking.

No, we haven't set a date, everything is still very much in the planning stage and we might do the long engagement thing cause, you know, still in school and all and we're going to probably play it by ear.

Craziest thing yesterday. I tried to set a world record for the longest air guitar. Not the largest. That would require the entire city. But the longest. I just couldn't stop. I don't think I set anything, but I certainly tried.

I want to do something special for Adaine, to make her feel special just because, but also for reasons. I don't mind being cheesy, but I want it to not be too cheesy, and I need help.

I got her a locket that looks like a book that holds four pictures. I put in a picture of her and Fig and one of her and Pike and Una. Would it be too presumptuous to put in a picture of her and me?

I've been thinking about things to do for our community after last month. The brunches are nice, but I keep having that line from RENT in my head, "The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation." So, I'm thinking we should do a community art show in the building. I know a lot of folks here have creative talents (I'm not going to name names, but I may come find you later)

Bonus: I need to do an art show this semester, and I think it'd be great to host it in our building. Two birds, one stone.

So, if you want to submit something(s) for the art show, let me know. I'm thinking early to mid Decemeber? That's enough time to throw something together, right?

So, hello. Most of you don't know me, but I'm Ginny, Albus' mum. His dad and I are going to throw him a birthday party this Sunday, starting at 6 pm at The Bit & Barrel (address here). It will be in the downstairs lounge, so just come in and go down the stairs on your right to find us.

His birthday is the 19th, but this was the only time I could guarantee the space, so Sunday it is.

Gifts are encouraged, but not required. I think Al just wants people to come and enjoy themselves. It's not a surprise party, he knows one is happening, but not the fine details, so please avoid telling him anything. We'll manage to get him there on time.

And if you are seeing this and don't know Al, myself, or Harry (that's his dad), that's okay. You are welcome, too. Use this as an opportunity to get to know your fellow residents.

My ward had a rather important birthday (his 18th, to be precise) during last month's nonsense, and while there are no guarantees everything has completely passed, the celebration of this momentous event should not be forfeited by the mere conceit of a calendar date.

If you go out at night, don't go alone. Two guys and one girl were waiting about halfway between the pub and the building tonight on my way back from work. I don't know if the goal was just to scare me, or steal my stuff, or something worse, but they clearly had thought this through. Unclear if it's got anything to do with all the other odd stuff, but after Mal's experience at the pub, I've got to wonder.

One of the blokes has a mean right hook. If my magic was working properly, I would have hexed him before he got close enough to make contact.

I guess since word is getting around and, you know, it'd be nice to actually be the one to tell people, I should let everyone know.

I've been working on a project for the last few months. You can blame Captain Rogers, he decided I should be a productive member of society or something. November 1st, we're opening a medical center. It's sliding scale income based but plot twist, displaced are treated for free because why the hell not. At least as long as my funds are here but apparently I could be snatched up at any time so who the fuck knows.

Those of you with slightly more...unusual needs, you'll likely be seeing myself or Dr. Tam. We at least know you exist as whatever it is you are and we can work from there. But no one gets turned away (unless you're on a trying to kill us all rampage and then, I mean, jury's out to be fair).

No, it doesn't have a name yet. You all know I suck at that part. Good thing I don't have to order the sign for another week or two.

It's not every day that your best friend is suddenly years older than you due to alternate universes making time a little weird even by Beacon Hills standards. The obvious benefit to this is that the age jokes get to start that much earlier. (Kidding. Maybe.)

What if Edgar Allen Poe had written his poem about a crow instead of a raven? Would it have made a difference? I mean, it makes a difference to me. Ravens think they're so much better than crows. I guess they are kind of superior in size and prowess. I've never really thought about it before. Actually, I don't think I've ever met a raven, but I always knew to stay out of their way. They can be pretty bad tempered, I've heard.

But I wonder if maybe crows wouldn't have such a bad rap if Poe's poem was about a crow and not a raven. Or maybe humans don't really care about any of that.

Anyway, I had to read his poem for class and I kinda liked it.

I have been here long enough to see times like these, where a larger group arrives or returns all at once. It does not make anything easier, it will likely never get any more easy to deal with when we lose loved ones.

But now is a time for support. Ask for it, provide it, whatever you need or are able to do. Check on your neighbors, "our people" or otherwise. The smallest offering can make a world of difference in times like these. We are in this together.
