I seem to have acquired a pair of little red demon wings when I woke up this morning. Somehow, despite their size, I've managed to stay somewhat airborne when I try flying, but haven't really tried going for a long flight.

I feel like I need horns and a pitchfork to really pull the look together.

Uh... so I'm really glad that the weather's back to normal. Really glad. But... has anyone seen Steve today? I tried to drag him outside and he's not in the apartment. He's not answering his phone either. His stuff is still here, car included.

What is going on? How much should I be concerned about this? Because Steve wouldn't leave without saying something... usually.

Yes, Hi... hey... I'm Zoe Hart. This cold has been going on longer than any of us expected, I'm sure. The clinic... is here. We, like many, are running low on a few things. If anyone can spare a blanket or pillow, it would be much appreciated.

Also, if anyone can provide something warm to drink, that would also be greatly appreciated. Take care of yourselves, and if anyone needs anything, just give me a shout.

It's funny that no matter how many different calendars I learn about - lunar, solar, other planetary ones... something about the Terran calendar year turning over still feels like a new start.

Mrs. Kovacs from floor 7 (Emilia, if you're friendly) wanted me to tell/remind everyone that her whist group is starting up next Thursday night at 7 PM in the common area.

Snacks and drinks are potluck style. Danae and Roderick from 12 are bringing finger sandwiches, and Rorie from 9 said they'd try their hand at a Victoria sponge cake. Edwardian dress is encouraged, but not required.

Don't worry if you don't know the rules. Apparently it's as much about the card game as it is catching up on building gossip. Who's in?

I wasn't worried about it because the government lady assured me they would help me find something, but I thought it might be in a shop or a barista instead of what I was doing at home. But no, they sent me on a few interviews with some different PR firms and I'm going to start on Monday with one that works with entertainment and sports brands.

Also, I just wanted to thank everyone for being so nice. I was really freaked out when I got here and you were all brilliant at answering my questions and helping me understand what the hell was going on.

Folks really ought to learn to hold their liquor better. Or choose better targets for a fight than someone at least three feet taller than them.

Whatever's happened to the city almost makes me wish I was a biologist. As it is, I've spent much of my free time exploring the various regions - so much biodiversity, it's incredible. It does make me wonder whether you could construct something like this to counter the effects of global warming. Or, back home, to make regions further from the equator more hospitable for dinosaurs.

Unfortunately, though not for lack of trying, I haven't found many fossils, I wonder if that's because these biome regions are not exactly natural - or rather, they were almost instantaneous and not over the thousand or years or more that it normally takes an environment to change.


On a different note, does anyone have a favorite spot for rock climbing around here?

Has anyone gone on a gondola ride yet? Or commendeered a gondola for their own use? Would anyone want to? Looks like there's a lot of them over on the canals by the bridge these days.

A lemur stole my banana. I've decided to call him Balder, for no particular reason other than my own amusement.

In case you're interested, the 'Dino Days' exhibit at the Natural History museum at the California Academy of Sciences closes tomorrow. It's definitely work checking out and I'm happy to play tour guide if anyone wants a personal tour.

I will be working part-time there and part-time at Berkley's Museum of Paleontology which is really more of a research museum, but I'm hoping to convince them to do more public events as they do have some lovely specimens there.

I'm starting a parkour club.
