I spent an embarrassingly long time thinking what to say. First impressions are important, aren't they? The government men explained it all to me of course. Strange city on a strange planet in a whole different galaxy than I know. No way to get home. All of you are all that I've got, really. And now I'm part of what you've got, too.

So, hello. I'm Jyn. And I have no idea what I'm doing, but I figure that I'll sort that out as I go.

I suppose one of the better things for this weekend is the lack of fireworks. People and animals have trouble and our new location is close enough to the bridge that the show is on the bay off Pier 39.

Fireworks are illegal (boo or yay) otherwise so hopefully this year is pretty easy.

First, checking in to see how you are all doing with space? I recognize that my enjoyment of feeling small because of the vastness may not be universal, and I want to be sure you're okay.

I miss blue skies and fresh air. Space is incredible, don't get me wrong, but I look forward to having an atmosphere again.

Shocker, but being on this ship doesn't suck quite as much as I thought it would. Plus the phasers are kind of cool. Can I keep mine?
