I have a new job. I'll be working at the Exploratorium. I decided to accept the offer there. It was a hard choice as I had both Academy of Science and Exploratorium to choose from. They are more geared towards engineering which is still my first love. Thanks to everyone who supported this change ♥

I'm a little bit inspired to also sew again. So don't be discouraged to bring me your super suits. Which are my specialty as far as that goes.

Forgot entirely about my birthday last week save for Rose's post...belated birthday drinks maybe yes? and yes Rose you also should come :p

This non-stop rain is getting a little tiresome. What is this? Seattle?

The tails are curious and kind of fascinating but the novelty has turned into tedium. It's more a "how can I avoid transforming during my day to day activities"? Of course, I confess to trying to figure out exactly what the parameters of the transformation are.

[Natasha]
So the rain might put a damper on any weekend plans you might be plotting. Pivot to a weekend in?

Thanks for the cupcake! 🦕🦖 You're welcome in the lab anytime.

You know, I'm a little disappointed in myself. I go to all this trouble to not fall through one of the rifts and here I am on the wrong end of one anyway. Poor showing, Felix.

This one seems more welcoming than I'd expected, though, so I suppose: hello, everyone, I appear to have joined the ranks of the rift-displaced. Felix Alexios, formerly of Tevinter although I imagine that means very little to anyone here. This world is very different than the one I'm used to. Much bigger buildings. Much more electricity in nice, contained places rather than being thrown around on the battlefield. I can't say I disapprove entirely.

The fellows in charge indicated there might be some people I could talk to here about medical matters. Given the vastly different technology levels, I'm sure there are options here I'm not aware of. I'd appreciate a conversation with the relevant people (healers? They said something about doctors?). At your convenience, of course, but sooner rather than later.

Thanks to everyone who joined us on the paleontology dig over the last two weeks. Hopefully you had fun whether you came for a few days or a week. If you missed out, or if you loved it, I'll probably be doing another trip this summer, maybe to a different site.

I do tip my hat to all the high school teachers out there. You all do amazing work.

And now, laundry, and the fighting the urge to sleep for a week because work calls.

[Natasha]
Teenagers are exhausting. Also, thank you for doing this with me. You know that B&B romantic weekend we had scheduled before... I'm thinking a weekend of bed and pampering wouldn't go amiss in the near future.

I don't know why I thought a paleontology dig spring break trip wouldn't be popular. Clearly there's just as many dino loving folks here.

Anyways, week one just wrapped, and we're heading into week two, and I'm reminded how few things beat being out on a dig. Even if raccoons did run off with a chunk of our supplies in week one. (Don't worry, we didn't starve.)

The t-shirts (this & this) seem to be a hit, which makes me happy. You never know how these things are going to go.

We're at a good site so those of you coming for week two, don't worry, there will still be plenty for you to dig up.

[OOC notes because I am too lazy to make a pretty post again:]
  • They're digging at Hell Creek Formation; "Participants in the full-day digs here can expect to find bones from Tyrannosaurus, Edmontosaurus, Triceratops, Brachychampsa, Dromeosaurus and Didelphodon." It's based out of the North Dakota museum
  • the colleges spring breaks were last week; high school is this week.
  • If you need ideas for what your character(s) might have done on the trip, here are some suggestions: an animal(s) gets into the food, so x leads an impromptu road trip to get more supplies, someone loses their luggage and has to borrow clothes for the trip, someone(s) finds a fossil that doesn't belong to the dinosaur and gets to name it (lots of possibilities for this)
  • I'm not keep track of who signed up, so if you didn't get to sign up before, no worries about handwaving and saying your character was there)

So we won't be getting the eclipse until the middle of the night here but that hasn't stopped me before. If anyone wants to join us down at the high school, I've got all of the telescopes set up to view tonight's Blood Moon. Bring blankets and get comfy. I'm fairly sure I can talk the most beautiful woman I know into helping me make some snacks for everyone.

So, I'm not sure if folks have their spring breaks planned out already or not, but the museum has given me a grant to go on a dig and have said I'm allowed to take students with me. I'll be there for close to two weeks - around March 23 to April 3.

UC Berkeley & Stanford have spring break the first week and the high school is off the second week. Folks are welcome to stay as long as they want during that time. I'll also need chaperones, so adults, if you want to come, we can make it happen.

As for sites, currently debating between Montana, Wyoming, and the Dakotas. Should have that finalized in a week or two.

Anyone interested?

This is my one check-in today. I promised I wouldn't text you too much, but this doesn't really count.

Do you want to talk through the feelings in a physically exhausting way? I'm now a flying target.
[end]

I knew the wings were only a matter of time, but they gave me an excuse to put on a pair of shoes I've let collect dust in my closet for too long.

attached is a photo she took of herself

Happy to have a long weekend to get used to them.

[Private to Henry]
I think we need to postpone our Valentine's Day plans, at least until the wings are gone.

No wings on me yet, but I'm seeing a powerful need for some wardrobe updates for those of you afflicted. I've got some designs I'm still toying around with, many of which involve tunic cuts and wrap around ties.

Hit me up if you want to try a couple out or want me to take a stab at altering your tops so you can stay decent when you're out there winging around this fair city of ours.

OOC. If you see Bruce, he has actual bat wings now.

The universe thinks it's so funny, doesn't it. Well, it's not. Or at least, I don't find it very funny at all. I have spent years traversing heights and distances without wings just fine.

First question - will you be my +1 for the museum party?

Second question - busy this weekend?

[Private to Clint Barton, Phil Coulson, Yelena Belova, Matt Murdock, and anyone else in on the Wolf Farm conversations]
I think I found a space for us. It does have a neighbor, but the house abuts a wooded area where we could run.

It's 90 minutes South, on about 20 acres, and it's set up to be a vineyard. We could use that as a cover.
[end]

[Private to Max, Julie, and Yelena]
For Thursday, I'll make cinnamon rolls and a fruit salad for breakfast, then I think we have invitations to join other dinners, so we'll pick and choose where we go for actual Thanksgiving.

Henry is joining us at Phil and Matt's, and I'll officially introduce him as my boyfriend. Partner? My person. At any rate, we had the intentions talk, and that's where we landed. I wanted the three of you to be the first to know.
[end]

If any Mission High School students need something to do this week, I have some sets that need painting, and I can get you extra credit with your English teachers.

Alright, I’ve slept on it. You know moving is really exhausting, and I’d kind of just got done moving into a place. Or I thought I was, before getting zapped here yesterday. But this time the moving didn’t come with any of my stuff or my cat, so I’m pretty annoyed about that.

Hey, I’m Carol. Don’t suppose anyone here has a line on some reliable spacecraft I can borrow?

I’m not used to having roommates so sorry for crashing after barely saying hi last night. It’s been a long week.

I'm glad that the craziness of last month seems to be over. Hopefully it stays that way.

I realize this is probably only of interest to a small subset of people, but the debate on the Nanotyrannus has finally been settled - it's not just a juvenile T. rex, but a separate genus. About half the length and one tenth the body mass. (Okay, so word on the paleontology circuit is that this is still going to be debated, but it's still fascinating news.)

[Natasha]
What's it gonna cost to ransom my dinosaurs back from you?

I got my girls out of the city, but my suit keeps hitting critical failure as I try to fly over the city. All other attempts to regain entry have been unsuccessful.

If they're organized. We need to get organized.

I can help manage people and supplies outside of the town, I just need to know who is out here and where you are. At the very least I can make sure the people out here are taken care of and try to get supplies through the inside maybe.

Well, this is... unexpected. It seems one can't get back across the bay into the city tonight? Came to Berkeley today to teach & work at the museum here and now.... Not sure how I'm supposed to get to work tomorrow? the ride share cost to go around... It's not the first time I've slept in my office and I'm sure it won't be the last.

[Natasha]
Sorry, no personal dinner delivery tonight. Hopefully I can get back tomorrow.

OOC: As of Tues, Oct 14, Henry is hosting a sleepover for residents at UCBerkeley's Museum of paleontology and has arranged some rooms at the Berkeley lab guest house. (Yay department funds!) Any residents stuck in Berkeley/Stanford are welcome.

Early college admission applications are due in a little over two weeks, so if no one hears from me until then just check with Stiles or Kitty for signs of life.

Did I leave my Calculus book and notes at home? I thought I put them in my bag this morning.
