Second Chances: the Network

A little last minute, but I know people are excited about being able to fly and also Valentine's Day is this weekend, and that's a big deal.

But! Like Samirah mentioned, Ramadan starts on the 17th, but it also happens to be Mardi Gras AND the day that the Lunar New Year is being observed. So we were talking about having a Mardi Gras party, but then I had a thought on the way home today.

What if we do an international potluck to celebrate everything all at once?

I am still looking for someone who knows how to make really good gumbo and king cake, though!

I can't say I've wrapped my head around all of this, but they say my kid back home isn't on his own - some "divergent reality" thing that honestly, went way over my head - and that there's a version of me still there, so... cool. We can work with that. So long as he's okay and my sister-in-law isn't going to be flipping out because I went and disappeared.

Since we went away last year, are we staying here this Christmas? I want to put up a big tree and invite people around for a proper party.

I've been thinking about things to do for our community after last month. The brunches are nice, but I keep having that line from RENT in my head, "The opposite of war isn't peace, it's creation." So, I'm thinking we should do a community art show in the building. I know a lot of folks here have creative talents (I'm not going to name names, but I may come find you later)

Bonus: I need to do an art show this semester, and I think it'd be great to host it in our building. Two birds, one stone.

So, if you want to submit something(s) for the art show, let me know. I'm thinking early to mid Decemeber? That's enough time to throw something together, right?

I realize it is somewhat short notice, but if any of you would care to join me at Edge of Glory on Friday night, I'll be taking the evening off from work and instead, celebrating my birthday.

Matt and I have been focusing on the noise/sonic disruptor shit on our patrols. It's stronger in some places than others. We've been trying to pinpoint it and there's a few target areas.

Given how it's affecting folks, pretty sure it's some type of sonic disruptor device. [insert list of types of devices and suggested means of disabling/destructing them]


Here's where we need help:

The goal is to have several synchronized strike teams hit all possible locations tonight (28th-29th overnight) and take out the evil vuvuzelas.

So, any volunteers? (Those of you under 18 - get permission from your guardian before signing up .)


Full disclosure, this is not a zero-risk operation. We'll need all types of skills - getaway drivers, fighters, tech folks, comms, explosives... so if you're in, we can find you a job.


[OOC: anyone who wants their char to be involved can volunteer, feel free to make up teams, talk about specific sonic devices etc. I'm doing some handwaving here. There will be as many areas to hit as we have 'strike teams'. Coulson's thinking 2-3 people per team. No one goes solo.

Thanks to everyone who helped out last night. It looks like we were successful knocking out the noise disruptors that were causing so many problems for our folks. It looks like things have calmed down significantly.

While I have no information on who they were or why they were there, I did gather an immense feeling of anger and panic from them as they retreated. One of them may also have some broken bones. Do with that information as you will.

Well, I certainly did not expect to find myself in San Francisco. Although judging from the fact that there are no dinosaurs roaming around the city, this does not seem to be my San Francisco. Not that San Francisco is mine, I wouldn't presume to suggest that. Er, more this is not the San Francisco from my world.

Er, sorry, this is all just a lot to take in, is all. I was just on Île Saint-Hubert, not that I want to go back there, so this is all just a bit of a shock. Although if we were able to recreate a perverse version of dinosaurs, I should not be surprised at the possibility of universe like ours existing.

It is strange, seeing the date and realizing that I have been here nearly a year already. It is the longest I have lived outside of New Orleans since I moved there in 1910. And in a surprising turn of events, it would seem most of you have not grown too annoyed with me or weary of my being here.

While I know there are many festivities already happening this weekend, I would like to celebrate my time here, though I am unsure how. An evening gathering in the outdoor commons on the 5th floor, perhaps?
