PERSONALITY
Thomas has no memory before the Glade. He has no idea what he was like as a child, as a boy, as a budding teenager. He has no idea who or what he is. Oh there are bits and pieces, tiny out-of-context flashes of things, half baked memories that spark more questions than answers. Not knowing who he is and where he came from is hard, but for Thomas it is a source of strength, because he isn't tied to the past, isn't sure of the future, and therefore can only embrace the present.
Thomas came out of the box in the Glade with a fighting spirit. With no idea where he was or how he got there, he immediately began to question everything. Unwilling to simply accept life in the Glade and inside the walls of the maze, Thomas rebelled against everything and challenged every preestablished rule. Perhaps it was stupidity, or a simple lack of respect for rules, or maybe he was just a wild spirit. Maybe he'd been sent to shake the foundation. He didn't know, didn't remember anything before the box, but when he emerged in the Glade, he knew he couldn't simply integrate into that life.
Thomas couldn't stand by and watch the doors close, trapping Minho and an injured Alby in the maze with the grievers all night. By this time, Thomas knew no one had ever survived a night in the maze. Despite that, he forced his way through the rapidly closing doors to the other side. He refused to accept certain death and instead fought with heart and soul to survive, and ensure Minho and Alby's survival as well. Even without memories or life experience to build on or fall back on, Thomas knew he wasn't the sort to stand by and do nothing. He was, and would always be, a man of action.
Thomas is a hard headed, impulsive son of a bitch who won't yield to rules and will head butt anyone who assumes an authority role. He has no idea who or what he was before, but now? He is a survivor, and no one and nothing will stand in his way. He will fight tooth and nail against any obstacle, against any opposition. If he falls, if he's knocked down, he will rise back up and continue fighting. He will storm ahead until his legs give out and he takes his last breath.
He may not know who he is, where he came from, or why he is where he is, but he's damn sure going to fight for every moment he has, and every breath he takes.
