Valentine's Day drabbles!
Fourteen drabbles (well, one's a double drabble), all with some degree of romance, for Valentine's Day. *smooches f-list*
Title: Contrition Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Harry/Severus Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Harry knows how to deal with Severus's anger. Note: For alisanne, who wanted Snarry, melting snow.
Contrition
"I hate it when you're angry," Harry said. "You go all silent and cold. Even your voice is like ice. What is it that I've done this time?"
"If you don't know, I'm hardly going to tell you," Severus said with a sniff.
"That's ridiculous." Harry bounced with exasperation. "Honestly, I've no idea what is bothering you, and if you don't tell me, how can I fix it?"
"Look at the calendar."
"The calendar?"
It took a moment before Harry realized the date. "Valentine's Day."
The practical application of his contrition acted like sun on snow to thaw Severus's demeanor.
Title: Geekery Author: celandineb Fandom: ST XI Pairing: Kirk/McCoy Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Jim was kind of a geek, as a kid. Note: For florahart, who wanted Kirk/McCoy, geekery.
Geekery
"What did you do as a kid? Besides hot rodding in stolen convertibles?"
Silence stretched out.
"What, is it that embarrassing? I'm a doctor, man, you know I can keep secrets," Leonard said. "And hell, I preserved dissected worms using my father's best brandy."
"There was this old television show," mumbled Jim. "In 2 D. The local station showed it, and a few of us watched. We were fans. I could have told you anything about any episode. We even made up new stories sometimes."
Leonard shrugged. "What's a little geekery? What show, anyhow? Maybe I watched it too."
"Galaxy Quest."
Title: Giving Thanks Author: celandineb Fandom: ST XI Pairing: Kirk/McCoy/Pike Rating: general Length: 200 words Summary: Chris is pleasantly surprised. Note: For secretsolitaire, who wanted Kirk/McCoy/Pike, shore leave.
Giving Thanks
The Enterprise was back. Chris toyed with sending a message. How had Jim Kirk handled being in command on a day to day basis? He didn't want Jim to think he was checking up on him, though.
He'd returned to the latest reports from the Klingon borders when his office door opened. He looked up to snap at his secretary, but it was Jim and Leonard McCoy who entered. Jim bounced an old coin on his palm.
"Call it." The coin flashed as it spun down.
"Tails," said Chris just before Jim caught it.
Jim slapped it onto the back of his other hand. "Heads," he said with evident disappointment. "You get the first turn, Bones."
Leonard bent over Chris's chair. Giving Chris plenty of chance to pull back or say no, he leaned forward until he was kissing Chris hungrily. By the end, Chris felt dizzy.
"My turn," Jim announced, and then he too was kissing Chris as if he never wanted to do anything else.
"What? Why?" Chris managed to ask in a strangled voice afterward. "I mean, not that I mind, but..."
The other two exchanged glances. "It seemed like the best way to say thank you," said Jim.
Title: Golden Age Author: celandineb Fandom: ST XI Pairing: Kirk/McCoy Rating: general (strong innuendo) Length: 100 words. Summary: Memory is golden, but the present is pretty good too. Note: For angela_snape, who wanted Kirk & McCoy, strawberries and whipped cream.
Golden Age
"If you could have anything you wanted right now, what would it be?" asked Leonard.
Jim stroked Leonard's chest. "Fresh strawberries and whipped cream. Not from the replicator. I'm thinking of strawberries from a sun warmed patch, sweet as a summer breeze, and cream so thick it hardly needs whipping." His face was soft with memory.
"That's what you want most, with a whole galaxy to choose from?"
Jim nipped at his neck. "You did say any thing, not any one. For now I'm happy enough with these 'strawberries'," he licked one of Leonard's nipples, "and the 'cream' you give me."
Title: Headhunting Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Minerva/Rolanda Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Minerva writes her old friend a letter. Note: For ancarett, who wanted McGonagall(/Hooch), mad for Quidditch.
Headhunting
Dearest Rolanda,
I hear that you are considering retiring from the Harpies. Given that you have been mad for Quidditch since our schooldays, this surprises me, but I hope the rumor is true .
In strictest confidence – and I know that you will keep it, for the sake of all we once were to each other – I will tell you that Professor Dumbledore hopes to hire someone as the flying instructor at Hogwarts, and to coach the House Quidditch teams and referee matches also. If you leave the Harpies, will you permit me to suggest your name?
Most affectionately, Minerva
Title: Joyful Compliancy Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Lucius/Severus Rating: general (strong innuendo) Length: 100 words Summary: Lucius and Severus both enjoy Lucius's mastery. Note: For curtana, who wanted Lucius/Severus, mastery.
Joyful Compliancy
Severus knelt, proffering a tray with a crystal decanter and glass. Lucius poured himself two fingers of whiskey and drank. His eyes rested on Severus.
"You may put the tray down," Lucius told him.
When Severus had resumed his position, Lucius held the glass to his lips and let Severus have the last mouthful.
They argued over the best means by which to achieve the Dark Lord's goals, but when it came to the art of love, Severus's joyful compliancy brought greater joy than anyone else Lucius had ever known. To find his release in Severus's body was unparalleled delight.
Title: Reservation Author: celandineb Fandom: The King's Speech Pairing: Bertie/Lionel Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Lionel pursues an informal strategy. Note: For aome, who wanted Bertie/Lionel, UST.
Reservation
Bertie mentions friends from his naval days, including Louis Greig, who was a member of his household for some time, but even that relationship seems to have been reserved.
That repression, tension so ingrained that Bertie is oblivious to it, contributes greatly to his stammer, Lionel is sure. His strategy against it is informality: refusing to say "your Majesty," even touching him.
As expected, Bertie protests, but he shows signs that he enjoys it. Lionel learns to be careful; he has noticed Bertie concealing a stiffy more than once, but Bertie should not see that see Lionel has one too.
Title: Sentimental Nonsense Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Severus/Sirius Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Severus is not much for holidays. Note: For r_grayjoy, who wanted Snape/Sirius, dead flowers.
Sentimental Nonsense
There was no holiday that Severus could honestly say he liked much, but if forced to rank them, Valentine's Day would fall near the bottom. Sentimental nonsense, the whole thing.
It wasn't as if he had a "romantic partner". They fucked, that was all.
Still, perhaps the day did require something to mark it. Severus considered the possibilities.
That evening at dinner, an owl brought Sirius an unsigned bouquet of dead flowers. Severus watched with satisfaction from the Slytherin table as the other Gryffindors poked fun at Sirius's gift. Sirius would know who they were from and what they meant.
Title: Spirited Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Harry/Severus Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Harry and Severus are honeymooning. Note: For dementordelta, who wanted Snarry in a haunted house.
Spirited
"It was a ghost. Something brushed against me and I got cold," Harry insisted. "What else could it be?"
"A draft," said Severus in his driest voice. "If you insist on honeymooning in a stone cottage in Scotland during winter, drafts are inevitable. Did you see this purported ghost?"
"No," Harry admitted, "but ghosts don't have to be visible, Sir Nicholas said."
"I still think it was a draft," said Severus. He patted the cushion beside him. "Come here."
They were soon so wrapped up in their lovemaking that even Harry didn't notice when five ghosts appeared and watched them.
Title: Strawberry Fields Forever Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Harry/Severus Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Harry's taken Severus berry-picking. Note: For alisanne who wanted Snarry, strawberry fields; the title of course is pinched from the Beatles song by that name.
Strawberry Fields Forever
"I thought they'd be bigger." Severus looked at a strawberry critically. "Are you sure this will be worth the effort?"
Harry laughed. "I'm sure. Taste one and you'll see." His lips were already reddened with juice. "You always tell me that size doesn't matter."
"All right," Severus surrendered, and popped a berry into his mouth. Harry was right. It had a flavor such as he had never tasted before, a fragrant distillation of summer sunshine. He sighed happily, looking over the field that waited to be picked, and kissed Harry's red mouth, which was even more delicious than the strawberry.
Title: Waltzing Matilda Author: celandineb Fandom: The King's Speech Pairing: Bertie/Lionel Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Of course Bertie knows how to waltz. Note: For cruisedirector, who wanted Lionel, Bertie, dancing.
Waltzing Matilda
"Do you know how to waltz?" Lionel asks abruptly one day.
"W-w-w-waltz?" Ws have always been difficult for Bertie. "Of course."
"Good."
Lionel bounces out of his chair. He sorts through a stack of records at the turntable, chooses one, and lowers the needle. The slightly tinny strains of "The Blue Danube Waltz" fill the room. He returns and holds out his hands. "We're going to waltz. Count to three while inhaling and three while exhaling."
Bertie lets himself be hauled up, automatically taking the lead.
"Count," Lionel prompts him.
"One-two-three, one-two-three," Bertie murmurs as they twirl about the room.
Title: Warm Welcome Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Draco/Harry/Severus Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: It's a cold wet winter's day. Note: For torino10154, who wanted Severus/Harry/Draco, warm welcome.
Warm Welcome
A steady dreary drizzle and a wind that seemed to come straight from the North Sea had soaked Severus through by the time he reached his flat and fumbled stiff-fingered with the key.
He frowned as he stepped inside. He had been hurried that morning, but surely he had turned off the heat? Severus went to put on a flannel robe. The bedroom, however, turned out to be occupied. Within moments Severus was naked, sandwiched between Harry on one side and Draco on the other, each of them equally intent on ensuring that he had a very warm welcome indeed.
Title: While the Wind Wails Author: celandineb Fandom: The King's Speech Pairing: Bertie/Lionel Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Relaxation isn't easy to come by. Note: For swtalmnd, who wanted Bertie/Lionel, practicing under stress.
While the Wind Wails
"While the wind wails, I will walk to Whitby to watch Wee Willie Winkie weep."
"W-w-w-while the w-w-w-" Bertie's jaw worked, but no sound came out. At last he swore. "Bugger this, Lionel, it isn't bloody possible."
"It is." Lionel came around behind Bertie and touched either side of Bertie's jaw. His warm fingertips coaxed the muscles of Bertie's face to relax, though they provoked a different response elsewhere.
Bertie was becoming used to that erotic reaction, always greater when there was a broadcast scheduled. He sighed.
"Now, try it again," said Lionel.
A deep breath. "W-while the wind w-wails..."
Title: Working Up the Nerve Author: celandineb Fandom: HP Pairing: Draco/Hermione Rating: general Length: 100 words Summary: Draco's been watching Hermione for weeks. Note: For telperion1, who wanted Hermione/Draco, Restricted Section.
Working Up the Nerve
Four times out of five, when Hermione was in the Restricted Section, Draco was there too. He never spoke, just watched her like a cobra with a mongoose.
To begin with she ignored him. He wasn't doing anything, and if she told Harry and Ron, something regrettable might happen. Ron especially thought with the hair on his chest.
Almost six weeks into the second term, Draco finally sat down at her table.
"What do you want?" Hermione asked.
There was a softness she had never thought to see in his expression, and his face went red as he muttered, "You."
