Prologue: Into the Woods (Plot Update)
Prologue: Into the Woods |
The weather is improving- it’s been raining a fair bit, April showers and all that, with temperatures during the day in the mid-upper teens (50s-60s, for wizards still enmeshed in Imperial) and going down to 6-10 at night (40s). This would be a wonderful time to start some spring planting outside, wouldn’t it? If you had any seeds left, that is… Anyway. Wasn’t it unpleasant being the side characters in someone else’s story? To such unfortunate ends. Hopefully you’ve all mended your relationships and are moving along as best you can- because this time, although you don’t know it yet, you’re all protagonists. On Tuesday, late at night, those who are skilled in Occlumency might be aware of someone or something unseen poking around in their brains. Try as they might, they can’t shield themselves from the intrusion- worse, they can’t be entirely sure what the unknown invader was looking for. The sensation will only last for a few minutes, though! It’s probably nothing! But then, when your characters wake on Thursday, Spring has truly sprung; in fact, perhaps it’s springing too much. Pine, beech, spruce and oak trees have begun to spread out from the forest into the village- saplings surround the houses, the businesses, the Quidditch pitch, everything. What’s more, they’re growing at an alarming rate. By evening, they’re young trees. By the next morning, the trees are considerably taller, and by Friday night the village and its surrounds are completely engulfed in old growth forest. By now, some of you are surely old hat enough to have realised what’s going on. What will you do? Bemoan your fates? Fear the future? Look to the past? It’s going to be a long month before anyone is truly out of the woods. |
