Winter is Here.
Winter is here. |
Have you enjoyed your reprieve everyone? I can very much say that it is about over! Get some blankets and cocoa out, because it's about to get very, very stormy. Beginning tonight, a storm will start to build along the horizon. Over the next four days dark clouds will begin to build to the southeast, just behind the line of the mountains. They'll become visible as the sun rises on Wednesday morning. They'll continue to build and grow, reaching across the skies. They'll only grow darker as they move towards the village! By Friday, the temperature will start to drop as the clouds stretch across the sky. For those of you who speak about the weather often, they'll be very nearly black, they'll be so ominous! The storm itself will hit the village in the early morning hours of Sunday (think 6am). It will hit very suddenly, waking most people up as the weather crashes into the village. It will start with snow and hail hitting the village in a veritable blizzard. It will dump nearly five feet of snow in a matter of hours. By the afternoon, as the center of the storm passes over the village, the temperature will drop to -20º F (-29º C), freezing everything in the village. Please, do make sure you get those wards up in a tick. It would be a shame to think of someone freezing in their house. Your characters will be effectively stuck until the storm passes and the village begins to warm up. That will be in the late Sunday night/early Monday morning. You should probably keep the blasting of the frozen snow drifts until Monday. You don't want any of those person-sized icicles to snap off and spear you. Your mission is to ensure that your characters are logging what happens as they are stuck. Remember how we mentioned that we would be providing opportunity for your characters to address their trauma. Please be realistic about where your characters would be in the early morning hours in relation to where they are getting stuck. Use the comments to plan out with players to set up random interactions if you feel like it, or have a character lucky enough to live alone if you don't want them to be trapped all by themselves. Please do either post a thread (you have four days to complete a pre-logged one) or a very detailed quicklog as to what happened. |
