One damp Earth town is much like the other as far as I am concerned.

What does concern me is that we've all been comfortably settled in. With a payment and everything. Humans shouldn't be this prepared. At least, not the humans in this time period in my universe.

It suggests that they were able to predict this event. And chose not to tell us. As if we hadn't enough to be paranoid about.

Seems to me more like they caused this event, not just predicted it.

That certainly wouldn't surprise me.

Do things like this happen where you're originally from?

Unfortunately, it's not unheard of, no.

Settling us in comfortably isn't the part that concerns me. It's the same thing that happened back in Portland. What does make me concerned is that it seems only some of us were brought here. And this time, no briefing from a hologram.

We won't know if that's because we were in Portland and thus don't require any briefing in their view or some other reason. Sufficed to say we'll know that only when we have another new arrival coming in confused.

As for how only some were brought here, I'm not sure that's unusual considering what we've initially been told. But having this place ready for us, flies directly in the face of what we have been told.

Whatever the fate of the others, I can't be more concerned about that than people whose lives I can.. if not protect, then certainly help safeguard.

Agreed. Last time, they claimed we were "rescued" and brought to Portland. But this time? Everything planned in advance, no briefing, and only a select group of us were transferred here. Something's definitely up, but we need more info before we can even start to try and figure it out.

I'm going to take a little trip today and see if the 24 hour rule is still in effect.

Again, I agree. We can't do anything for those left in Portland. So for now, it's best to concentrate on those of us who are here.

I propose Portland as the destination, if you haven't already thought of it. If nothing else, you'll be able to establish if the 'Rule' is purely centred around where we are or whether or not there are particular properties. Do you have a scanner?

Yeah, my wrist strap's got one built into it.

I'll take a walkabout tour with my scanner here and we can compare when you get back.

Oh I don't know. I think that human can be prepared for just about anything. You might be surprised how adaptive we are, mister.

There's 'adaptable' and being 'already ready'. Defensiveness not required, thank you.

And it's Narvin. And if you're uncomfortable with my name, it's 'Coordinator', not 'mister'.

Not defensiveness. It's fact. Anyone who underestimates the human race is truly in for a nasty surprise.

Martha. Wait, it's Coordinator? A title instead of a name? Oh that's very interesting.

So many things wrong with this response, Rassilon, where to begin?.

I'm not underestimating anything. My point, which has merrily sailed past your head, is that I believe that these people are more in control then they say they are. That sound like 'underestimating' the human race to you?

No. I am not a renegade. My name is Narvinectralonum, Narvin, and my title is Coordinator, In Extremis of the Celestial Intervention Agency, the CIA.

Well... yes. Because anyone who has been brought here? Whether we like it or not? Are unlikely to stop looking for answers until we get to the bottom of it. Preparations being made for us or not. Anyone who thinks that we'll just accept this and not ask questions, not search for answers beyond what's been presented? I'd consider that underestimation. Generally the more obvious the answer the more you need to look. A gun in four parts that can kill a time lord dead, for example.

Renegade... that's a nice way of categorizing him. Rogue, rebel, runaway... He has to be. The naming convention is correct. Celestial Intervention Agency? And here was taught that the great civilization of bicardial watchers had a rule of non-interference.

Yes, and if I said that about you, I would apologise. But as I hadn't, it mystifies me entirely why you're choosing to bring it up, unless you're defensively assuming that I'm being critical about you, when I'm being suspicious of our hosts.

In fact, I made this post in hopes of seeking out dialogue, which I wouldn't have bothered doing, if I thought the responses were all going to be 'relax, Narvin, we just gotta go with the flow, man'.

It wasn't solely him. It was a categorisation of how Time Lords during the Pandak era had their names removed and exiled. His punishment of choice.

Yes, well, the Doctor seems to leave giant gaps in his education.

Sufficed to say, yes, the Law of Non-interference is indeed extremely important in Gallifreyan Society. But we are also the Guardians of the Web of Time. And other species, or individuals in some species, tend to break it with impunity. So the CIA guard against such interference.

Well, that's the theory certainly.

Oh no, I'm not taking it personally. But I read it a certain way. One of the problems with text-based communications is that tone is missing. We've been brought up to take what someone says and their tone into account. Without that you miss practically half the conversation.

Pandak era. None of the books in the library ever referred to that... Interesting.

A very interesting theory. I've seen it broken quite a few times myself. For necessary world saving events and 'cheap tricks'. I will admit that most of what I know about Gallifreyan society comes from the books in the TARDIS library. He told me about it once. It sounded like a fascinating place.

Probably best I do a proper introduction. Martha Jones. Former companion. I worked for UNIT before being pulled here.

It wasn't in my tone, but my context. Bringing up my reasonable conclusion of the instant readiness in the face of dealing with a large space-time when the humans of this place have an early twenty first century level of technology and then leading on to describing my suspicions should have made my intentions rather clear.

I would prefer you not go into that, I shudder to think about it. Cheap tricks? I think ignorance might be bliss.

I've heard of it. Perhaps the TARDIS was protective of the information for some reason. I doubt the Doctor has the gaps... though I haven't gone to check either.

Nine of ten people experimented don't. The tenth set fire to the questionnaire.

Narvin, these people don't understand your sense of humour.

I mean, yes. Neither do I.

Well, I tend to prefer certain flavours of stupidity over others, but the longer this goes on, the more mistakes that are likely to be made.
