"I know," she said with an amused grin. "That's what I mean, that you thought of them, even though you're not particularly close to them. It's very sweet." She hoped Theo wasn't going to go all 'macho' on her and act all nonchalant.
Her lips parted, a soft gasp pushing past them. "Has he really?" she asked, as though she couldn't believe it. She hadn't realized Peter was quite that attached to her. It was both frightening and heart-warming.
"He would have appreciated that," she told him with a small grin. And so would she, was what she didn't say. She chuckled at his next words. "There are certain things that father's simply aren't meant to know about their daughters."
She kissed the corner of that winning smile. "You flatter me," she said, "but I kind of like it, so don't stop." She winked at him. Her fingers threaded through his hair, almost massaging his scalp. "I love you, Theodore Nott," she whispered.
