Theo raised an eyebrow. "Who I wanted to invite?" he asked, wondering precisely who she was meaning. "I do hope Nicholas isn't dreadfully bored around here. I know Amy said she didn't mind hanging out with him." And he thought she was likely telling the truth.
"Yes, the same night," he said quietly. Their whole relationship had taken on an added dimension that night--between the very social interaction and the intimate conversations and the more intimate touches, everything had changed. Like it was meant to be.
"He loves you, too," Theo replied softly. It was a dangerous thing, but Theo thought it just might work out in the end. It was one of the few bits of optimism he dared to feel.
He sighed quietly, kissing her forehead again softly. "I wish I could too. I hope he would like me," he said. He knew her mother didn't approve at all, but he would have asked her father's permission before flouting it. He didn't bother with her mother. "My father would have liked you."
