"I don't think she even realized how it sounded until I came in." He shook his head, feeling his hair brush his forehead. Time for a hair cut, he thought idly, though it would probably take him another month to get around to it.
He sighed. "I suppose so," he admitted. "Technically, by the older laws she's of age to be married off. Thank the gods I have guardianship now." If mother did, who knew what she might choose to do. Mother still thought in the old laws sometimes, and she wasn't overly fond of her only daughter. Made a good pawn, though.
He pressed Pansy's hand to his cheek, turning his head so that he could press a kiss to her wrist. "I rather think she admires you, though," he told Pansy, for he'd seen Amy watching Pansy a couple of times, and unconsciously--or perhaps consciously--mimicking a few of the things she did.
