Dear Diary,
I know I haven't written to you in so long, so I apologize for that. Wait, why am I apologizing to a diary? Anyways. It's been an interesting several months, but I have been a bit lonely. Father keeps sending me owls and updates on the latest issue of The Quibbler, which always makes me feel better. I do miss all of my friends that were here when I attended Hogwarts last. I know some of them have graduated, but it's the ones that SHOULD be here that I miss the most. The Ravenclaw Common Room is much quieter than it usually would have been. As much as I appreciate that for studying, the silence just makes me realize how different Hogwarts has become.
Hermione and I have been getting along rather well. I do notice some stark contrasts between the two of us, but I think our differences only help us to learn from one another. I'm always off in my own world, and it's quite lovely, thank you. She's usually focused on something in the present. I think she dwells too much on things. She should really stop thinking once in a while. I know many things are bothering her, so I'm trying to come up with some ideas to help her cope with that.
My birthday came and went, and it was pretty uneventful this year. I can't believe I am 19. I received some lovely gifts from Father and he even put an announcement in the Quibbler! Hermione gave me an intersting book about animals, and even this book seems pretty interesting. Since our birthdays were the same month, and since things were so crazy at Hogwarts, we just celebrated between our two birthdays. We just had a quiet dinner, but it was lovely.
Halloween was a lot of fun as well! I know Hermione seemed reluctant to celebrate this too, but I made her go to the ball with me. I thought it would be fun to dress up, so I went as Morgaine and Hermione went as The Lady of the Lake. (Hermione told me all about this wonderful book Mists of Avalon. I was so intrigued that I wanted the characters to be our Halloween costumes!) We went to the ball and had a super fun time. It was good to get our minds on something else for a change.
Classes haven't changed much, even if they are smaller. My favorite is still Care of Magical Creatures, and I'm learning a lot for when I get out of school. I have been studying a lot, as I want to be more prepared for things, based on my past experiences.
I can't believe that Christmas is right around the corner! This semester has flown by! I hope I can go see Father for the holidays.
Well, I'd love to write more, but I have classes I have to attend. I'll write more later.
